Who May Be a Candidate
For Sedation Dentistry?
People who have:
People who:
-
hate needles and shots
-
hates the noises, smells and tastes
associated with dental care
-
are upset or embarrassed about their
teeth
We offer Oral
Conscious Sedation and IV Sedation.
Oral Conscious Sedation involves taking a
pill one hour before your appointment so that you can relax or sleep through
your visit.
-
With oral sedation we can often
complete all your dentistry in one visit.
-
Oral sedation is very safe.
-
The pills stay in a patient’s system
for several hours after the appointment, so there are few complaints of
pain after procedures are completed.
IV Sedation
Dr. Tisoncik has received specialized advanced
training and certification in IV Sedation from the anesthesiology program at
the University of Southern California. With this type of sedation,
medications are administered directly into the blood stream. The best
advantage of IV Sedation is that if someone is not sedated enough, Dr. Tisoncik can administer more medication and the effects are instantaneous.
The drugs used for IV Sedation are more effective than the same drugs taken
orally.
How You May Feel
Most patients remember nothing about their treatment. A few will remember a
little, usually at the end of the appointment when we are getting them ready
to go home. You will need someone to bring you to our office on the day of
your sedation appointment and you MUST have someone take you home
afterwards.
Safety of
Sedation
We offer both oral and IV sedation. For safety, we use special
monitoring equipment to monitor your pulse, blood pressure and oxygen level
throughout your entire procedure. You’ll be
done before you know it, completely unaware of the time passing, and totally
relaxed.
